Avens Gallery…Your Canmore Art Destination
In this welcoming gallery you will find original art created by 40 Western Canadian artists, where lifelike bronze sculptures and stunning artwork is a feast for your eyes as well as your soul!
We at Avens are proud to mark this the 31st anniversary of the gallery situated in the heart of the mountains in Canmore.
We have recently added a brilliant sculpture to our collection, entitled Mustang, by bronze artist James Stewart, a must see to believe the piece was crafted entirely by hand. James is known for his work in movies like The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, District 9, Harry Potter and others.
Chatting with artists that are creating works of art in-house is an experience that will stimulate the senses, inspire and invite you in to the creative process.
It’s a great way to interact, connect, and watch a blank canvas magically turn into a beautiful mountainous landscape or a piece of soapstone rock become a bear
Jonn Einerssen resides in Kelowna, BC. He spent time in Avens recently, creating another masterpiece of harmonious plays of bold colours
Jonn’s lifelike paintings leave you feeling at home whether it’s a prairie scene you could have grown up in or a majestic mountain scene reminding you of a recent hike.
Vance Theoret lives in One Hundred Mile House. He was in Avens carving and sanding, bringing soapstone to life using a method called Direct Carving.
Vance specializes in soapstone and sees the shapes inside waiting to be released, he lets the stone tell him what it wants to be. When it’s all said and done you will find the most adorable bears looking back at you like they saw you first!
You’ll be sure to love any piece of art you take home from Avens Gallery where your experience becomes a memory to last a lifetime!
