Explore Canmore’s vibrant arts and culture at artsPlace
artsPlace is a welcoming, user-friendly space where Bow Valley residents and visitors can gather to experience a full range of classes, workshops, camps, performances, films, and exhibits. Discover and celebrate the adventure of art and creativity at Canmore’s community art centre!
artsPlace features a ceramics studio, fabrication studio, and visual arts studio, “the Hub” Gallery, and Canmore’s only movie theatre.
Our programming includes single day and multi-week classes in visual arts, ceramics, textiles, drama and music for children, youth and adults; free and low-cost activities for families; gallery exhibits; special screenings of opera, theatre and ballet; award-winning documentaries and independent films; live music and theatre; weekly movies; comedy nights; camps for children and youth; and more!
artsPlace operates as a charity independent of the Town of Canmore. With fees covering less than 40% of the cost of our programs, we rely on the generosity of the Bow Valley community to keep quality at the highest level and prices affordable. Beyond our regular programming, we are proud to offer many free events and activities such as the Canmore Festival of Art and Creativity each September, programming for teens through the Youth Arts Collective, and our popular drop-in Sunday Family artsPlay workshops.
We believe that the arts energize and enliven our lives and are an essential part of what makes communities great. By providing enhanced and accessible opportunities to experience the arts, artsPlace offers a tangible path towards a stronger, more diverse, vibrant community; a truly great place to live and visit.
artsPlace is Canmore's community arts centre – a welcoming, user-friendly facility where Bow Valley residents and visitors gather to discover, explore and celebrate the adventure of creativity, the arts (both visual and performing), culture and a variety of arts based programming.
