Festival of Trees ~ It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year 

There’s something magical about December in Canmore—the twinkling lights, snow-dusted peaks, and that unmistakable feeling of community spirit. And nothing captures that spirit more than the Festival of Trees, brought to us by the Canmore Rotary Club & The Malcolm Hotel. The festival is a beloved month-long celebration that brings locals, visitors, families, and friends together in the heart of the Rockies.

Hosted inside the beautiful Malcolm Hotel, this annual event transforms the lobby and mezzanine into a glowing forest of decorated Christmas trees—each uniquely designed, sponsored, and brimming with creativity and holiday cheer. But the Festival of Trees is far more than just a dazzling display. It’s a full calendar of events, fundraisers, family fun, and festive gatherings that support important Rotary projects right here in the Bow Valley.

Below is a look at the most wonderful events happening throughout the month.

🎄 Tree Viewing All Month Long: Nov, 28- Dec. 31, 2025

Wander through the Malcolm Hotel and take in the beautifully decorated trees, each telling its own story. The trees are sponsored by local business and non-profit organizations and are decorated with their interpretation of the holidays. It’s free, magical, and open throughout December—perfect for an evening stroll, holiday photos, or a cozy moment by the fire.

🍸 Spirits of Christmas: Dec. 5, 2025

This year, the Spirits of Christmas turns the Edinburgh Ballroom at the Malcolm into a winter wonderland of craft cocktails, holiday spirits, and mountain hospitality.

Sample flavours of the world as you wander to each international tasting station. Indulge in full glass pairings of wine, beer and cocktails/mocktails from top local vendors. Dance the night away to the sounds of a live local DJ.

There will be a silent auction of unique items and experiences, all donated by community businesses. Peruse the tables to find that special gift or something for yourself.

Every bid helps support Rotary’s ongoing work in the community and international not-for-profit organizations. This is a festive night of fun and giving.

🏰 The Kids Holiday Extravaganza: Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025

Bring the kids for a day of crafts, games, treats, and holiday excitement. From cookie decorating to festive colouring stations, this holiday extravaganza delivers endless joy and creates cherished memories for little ones.

☕ Seniors’ Christmas Tea: Dec. 10, 2025

A beautiful tradition in the Festival lineup, the Seniors’ Holiday Tea offers a warm, welcoming afternoon dedicated to Canmore’s senior community. Hosted at the Malcolm Hotel, guests are treated to teas, festive treats, a Classical piano concert by Dr. Will Solyom, and the chance to visit with neighbours and friends in a joyful, relaxed setting. The event is filled with connection, storytelling, and seasonal cheer—celebrating the seniors that we love.

Behind all the sparkle, the Festival of Trees is a major fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Canmore, supporting local programs, youth initiatives, senior support, international projects, and emergency needs throughout the Bow Valley and beyond. Every ticket purchased, auction item bid on, and tree sponsored helps make a real difference.
