Each year, local businesses and community organizations gather to be a part of the holiday celebrations that happen all month long! Funds raised from the Rotary Festival of Trees will be contributed to The Rotary Club of Canmore’s numerous programs and services which benefit so many within our community and internationally.

Kick off the Christmas season with a tree lighting ceremony of royal prestige at the 6th Annual Crowning of the Tree. Hotel owner, Mr. Frank Kernick, opens the evening by crowning the grand lobby tree before the Valley Winds Chorus celebrates the sounds of the season with some community festive carolling.

Take a walk creekside and surprise the kids with a visit with Santa on The Stirling patio. Get photos taken with St. Nic on Dec. 1, 8, 14, or 21st.

If an evening for adults only is on your wish list, don't miss the Rotary Club of Canmore's Annual Spirits of Christmas Tasting Event on Dec. 6, 2024. Enjoy a celebration of local spirits and seasonal flavors! This evening will feature a curated selection of craft cocktails, spirits, craft beers, fine wines, and delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by the Malcolm Hotel’s Executive Chef Graham.

Along with the spirits and tasting experience, there will be a Pick-A- Present, Christmas Raffles, a new online charity auction, and fabulous live entertainment featuring Canmore's own, TR3 Band. Proceeds from the event will support local and international not-for-profit organizations and community initiatives, making this a night of fun and giving.

On Dec. 7, 2024, Christmas will have gone to the dogs! Bring your pet to join in the holiday fun. The Mut Hut Emporium will be hosting pet photos with Santa in support of the Bow Valley SPCA.

For the kids, there will be a full day of fun at the Kid’s Holiday Extravaganza Dec. 8, 2024! Make memories with holiday stories, juggling elves, cookie decorating, face painting, singing, and dancing! The Rotary Club offers this day to all good little boys and girls, free with registration.

The holidays are not just for the kids. Celebrate Grandmas & Grandpas, too! On Dec. 11, 2024, there will be a holiday reception for our seniors in the community with tea & desserts at a Seniors Tea. Live entertainment & door prizes will make it a festive and social afternoon.

One the most popular events of the Festival of Trees is Breakfast with Santa. This is a classic event with a buffet breakfast, live entertainment, dancing and a visit from Santa. There will be some great photo opportunities available.

On Christmas Eve, cozy in for a festive reading of “The Grinch” with King Malcolm’s Royal Storyteller.

The Malcolm Team invites all guests and neighbors to enjoy complimentary hot cocoa, more cookie decorating, and, if your lucky, St. Nick will be making a special stop (approx. 7:15pm) for the children spending Christmas at The Malcolm Hotel.
