Steam rises off the hot tub as the Three Sisters catch the last light of the day. Somewhere inside, a French press is waiting for morning. This is the pace of things at A Bear & Bison Inn, a locally-owned and operated boutique inn on the quiet edge of Canmore.

Our guests wake to a three-course breakfast brought to their door, made in-house each morning. House granola, scones warm from the oven, and dishes our guests describe in reviews months later. One wrote it was "out of this world doesn't even begin to do it justice," and we will let that stand as the boast we would never make ourselves.

The rooms are cozy and full of rustic character, with gas fireplaces, jetted tubs, and robes for the walk out to the outdoor hot tub. Guests who love modern and central will be happier downtown. The location does a lot of quiet work too. We sit on the edge of Canmore, a two-minute walk to the nearest restaurants, a short drive or cab to Main Street, and twenty minutes to Banff. Canmore sits outside the national park, so you don't need a park pass to wake up here; keep it in the glovebox for your day trips.

Fall and winter are our favourite seasons to share. Larch hikes with a soak waiting at the end, ski days at Nakiska or the Nordic Centre, and slow mornings where breakfast arrives and the Three Sisters do the entertaining. The Inn also hosts intimate weddings and elopements as whole-property buyouts, one wedding at a time, with your coordinator handling the details. Our couples' most repeated review word is "stress-free," and we work hard to keep earning it.
