Extreme Hangout In the Rocky Mountains 

Extreme Hangout Rocky Mountains with #DECARBONIZE is an event showcasing diverse youth perspectives on current climate issues affecting their community. Join an inspiring collection of climate activists from across Canada in Canmore, AB on October 21, 2023, as we learn and share together to improve our collective efforts for our planet.

The event will run in parallel to the Waves of Change Youth Climate Summit. The summit and event is being organized by The Centre for Global Education as part of the Waves of Change/#decarbonize program and is funded through Environment and Climate Change Canada.

What is the Waves of Change Student Climate Summit?

Led by the Centre for Global Education, the Waves of Change Student Climate Summit is an education and leadership program that allows #Decarbonize students across Canada to learn about the economic, social, and environmental interconnections of climate change through hands-on experiences. The Summit empowers student as environmental leaders to best serve their homes, schools, and communities and runs in parallel to the Extreme Hangout Rocky Mountains where selected students will prepare and present their own climate action stories to be shared virtually across Canada and around the world.

What is an Extreme Hangout?

Organized and hosted by passionate change-makers, in collaboration with influencers, activists, pioneers, innovating companies, cities, and tourism boards, the goal of Local Extreme Hangouts is to shake up the climate conversation and amplify the voices of locally celebrated climate champions and inspiring local initiatives. The way it operates, and the format is similar to TedX, where Extreme delivers the brand, the platform, the manual, the framework and distributes the livestreams and video content on our media network, and local organizers run and coordinate the event on the ground.

The event is scheduled to start at 10:00am on Oct. 21, 2023 and will be held at The Canmore Collegiate High School.

The event is completely FREE and open to the public, and “tickets” will be available at the door but availability may be limited. It is best for people to secure their spot on our eventbrite page.
